Full house for Logan Potgieter golf day fundraiser
The golf day was held in order to raise funds to assist with medical bills.
The Logan Potgieter fundraising golf day held at the Port Shepstone Country Club last Saturday, was a huge success with a full field taking part.
The event was held in honour of 15-year-old Logan Potgieter a local South Coast lad, who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and who is undergoing chemotherapy.
Logan is the only child of Anton and Jana Potgieter. He attended Izotsha Primary School and Port Shepstone High School. Due to the extensive treatment he is undergoing he had to be pulled out of school as he simply cannot attend due to health reasons.
Funds are needed for the medical bills so the golf day was one of the major events held in order to help.
It turned out to be a wonderful event with much sponsorship and very close to a full field.
It was certainly a fun day and with Logan on site, which made it even more meaningful. Logan played his part, too, selling tickets for a raffle, assisted by friend Declan van der Merwe.
Lane Allan auctioned a few valuable items which brought in some extra funding.
Jana said that Logan, in general, was ‘doing okay’.
“The chemo has been brutal and seems to affect him more and more every time. He is tired all the time and doesn’t have energy to do much, but he is still in good spirits. The golf day was a great success. We are overwhelmed and humbled by the grace and kindness we have received from this community, our family and friends.”
Winning the golf day were Daan Swanepoel and George Bowie on 44 points, on a countout from Yzelle Greyling and Cecelia Verster.
In third place were Rudi Steyn and Sandi Burger on 43 points.
