Kokorotkop is bass champion once again
Rory Bezuidenhout caught the biggest fish of 3,21kg.
It’s been an exciting year for members of the South Coast Bass Anglers Association.
For the fourth consecutive year, Boet ‘Kokorotkop’ Stewart came from behind at the last club fish-off to win angler of the year by just a few grams.
He beat Freek Stander, who was leading the scoreboard, and it all came down to the very last fish-off.
There was some minor consolation for Freek, who took the prize for the heaviest bag.
Rory Bezuidenhout caught the biggest fish of 3,21kg.
Thys Hoffman received the ‘Poephol’s Prize’ for diving into freezing water to retrieve his flippers after they fell off the kick-boat.
The most dedicated angler prize went to Bert van Wyk and he also received the trophy for the any other species.
In general, the South Coast bass anglers excelled this year.
Boet Stewart won the Harding Classic and then Boet and Joggie de Winnaar won at their respective dams at the New Hanover Classic.
Cheryl de Winnaar, took top honours at B’s Classic.
Fish were small this season and not as plentiful as usual. Maybe the weather and changing climate are to blame?
Dams are still dirty from the flooding this year but hopefully everything will settle soon and fishing will improve.
