Historic league triumph for Warriors

The players have shown dedication and commitment, and it's been rewarded.

It has been quite a season so far for the South Coast Warriors first and second teams, both winning their respective leagues in the same year in the First Division South this year.

That’s a first for the club and something the players and management are very pleased about.

The Warriors took on arch-rivals Hillcrest at home last Saturday.

South Coast Warriors firsts celebrate winning the First Division South league in the fading light at Douglas Mitchell Sports Club.

Both matches were close, with the seconds winning 17-5.

Tries were scored by Mardu Pretorius, Sam Ntshulane, Westley Nyman and Ty Redinger. Taine Booker kicked one conversion.

Men of the match were Nyman (forwards) and Redinger (backs).

The firsts had a tough day at the office, recording their first loss of the season, going down 12-7.

The try was scored by Jeandré Michau and converted by Daryn Nyman.

South Coast Warriors seconds are delighted to have won their league for the year.

Warriors did secure a crucial bonus point and with it the league, so it was a bitter, then sweet day, made even sweeter when the Springboks outmuscled Wales to win the Incoming Tour series against a highly respected opponent.

Men of the match were Lourens Stapelberg (forwards) and Andromar du Toit (backs).
