Elvis rocks to Margate CC strokeplay title
The champion did just enough to secure the trophy.
Elvis Khawula won the strokeplay championships at Margate Country Club last weekend, by just one from the legendary Ivan Curlewis, who has won it around 40 times.
Elvis carded 158 with Ivan one behind on 159.
The B division was won by Graham Massam on 172, on a countout from Devon Bownes.
C division went to Des Potts on 34 points, edging out Greg Litkie on 33 points.
In the ladies champs, the copper division was won by Cathy Meyer, bronze division by Dawn Howden and silver division and club champ, Sandi Johnstone.
The course has had for the last three years the same pair of crowned cranes bring their fledgling to the course during the winter months to feed.

The course has an amazing variety of bird life to be seen, including a frequent fish eagle visitor to the dam next to the 16th green.
This all makes a round of golf that much more special.
The club is set to host the historic McKenzie Cup on September 10 and 11.
This has been a prestigious event on the golfing calendar for many many years and Margate would like to revive the interest in the tournament as it has been slowly dying.
Clubs are urged to send in teams and keep the tournament thriving.
Entry fee is R600 per player which includes breakfast on Saturday, braai on Saturday and a lunch on Sunday.
