Captain trumps Vice at Southbroom
There's always a bit of banter that flies about on the Captain vs Vice-Captain golf day.
It was time for the annual Captain vs Vice-Captain at Southbroom Golf Club last Saturday.
It was won by captain Don Osbourn’s team, pipping vice-captain Gary Purtell’s team, 7-6.
However, the situation was reversed when it came to the women, with the Vice Captain’s team beating the Captain’s (Jo Ledden) team 4,5-3,5, albeit over only nine holes.
Sharon Turnbull-Jackson stood in for vice-captain Lesley Godley who was unable to play last Saturday.
Best score on the day for the men was 43 points, returned by Rob Meydell and Bob Clark.
Two pairs had 42 points, namely Jim Dimambro and Malcolm Moorley, along with Norman Farrell and Bob Thomas.
Graham Sole and Grant Richards had 40 points, as did Simon Shusha and Gary Brackley.
Best score for the women came from Julie Gerber and Augi D’ewes on 20 points, one ahead of Irene Schanda and Ann-Sophie Santos, as well as Solange Fox and Jeanette Peyios.
The previous Wednesday’s alliance (three to count on odd holes, two on even) was won by Sue Kupisiewicz, Sandy FitzGerald, Michelle van der Hoek and Solange Fox on 99 points, three ahead of Candida Amm, Karen Bridgeford, Jo Ledden and Janet Lehmann.
Chicken Run: Wally Robinson 21 pts, Phil Verwey 20 pts, Solange Fox 19 pts, Peter Volck 18 pts.
