San Lameer Country Club will host the matchplay finals of this year’s KwaZulu-Natal Interclub golf tournament, which tees off this Friday.
Southbroom and Port Shepstone will co-host the two qualifying rounds, before the knockout stage on Sunday wraps up at San Lameer. Around 400 golfers are expected for this exceedingly popular tournament.
The divisions are split into A and B – strokeplay – and Frog and Senior Frog which play Stableford. Teams comprise three players with various handicap combination permutations involved.
The last time San Lameer hosted the finals was in 2010, when Southbroom’s Gavin Sole, Phil le Roux and Dane Vosloo won on a rain-drenched day. It bucketed down the whole day and was quite a test of endurance. Hopefully the weather will be kinder this year.
This year Southbroom comes in as defending champions in the A division, with Sole spearheading the charge with teammates Jean-Marc Bouic and David Rush. Defending champs in the other divisions are Kloof (B), Maidstone (Frog) and Beachwood (Senior Frog).
