Getaway prizes for top golfers

Halfway Toyota will be sponsoring the monthly Combined Stableford on Saturday.

There was a full round of golf at Scottburgh Golf Club last week. On Sunday, the final leg of the mixed foursomes was played which was resurrected after a few years of not being played. The winners being decided on the best four from six matches played.
Winning the tournament were Graham Brown and Linda Hall, following close behind were Pete and Alex Morris and third were Bob Hall and Lauren Davey. A thoroughly enjoyable braai was held afterwards and everyone is looking forward to next year and new faces to join.

Then last Monday 42 ladies took part in their South Coast meet, some of our ladies playing their third game in as many days.
It was a Combined Stableford for the men where friendships can be a little strained on the course, but repaired in the pub last Wednesday. Alwyn Stander and Stephen Myburgh will continue their twosome as their 65 points was good enough for first place. Rolling in second were the duo of Brian Richards and Denis Brown on 64 just one point back. Anton Visage and Johan Barnard didn’t do so well and had to pay the piper. Deane Jooste once again found the hidden holes – he’s not telling anyone where they’re hiding.
Friday’s five pin is getting busier and Hayley Gilliver managed to pick up the R200 on offer with Steven Abramson getting the R100 note.

Umthunzi Hotel were the sponsors for Saturday’s game. Janet Beckerly out from Wales won in convincing style with 40 points. When husband Dave gets out he’ll be in for a treat, or maybe daughter Sarah and husband Mark might get an early Christmas present of a two-night stay at this luxurious hotel.
Kevin Ramkisson won another overnight stay with 38 points, maybe he’s saving up for a week’s stay. Clyde Leisagang came close with 37 but carried away two bottles of Pinotage to go with his bottle for nearest the pin on the 10th. Pete Gilliver took two bottles also as his nearest the pin on the 2nd and 17th were too good and Dion Steyn took the 5th for his effort. Pathma Moodley found the hidden holes, maybe Mr Jooste wasn’t looking over his shoulder.
Coming up this Wednesday (7th) is a betterball Stableford and this Saturday (9th) Halfway Toyota will be sponsoring the monthly Combined Stableford. With all the upcountry visitors already coming down and with the course being in fine nick it’s going to be busy, so get your name down early for all the games on the board.

Flyer’s footnote: Have you noticed that hazards attract – fairways repel.
