Viv claims Monthly Mug title

Umkomaas Golf Club's latest news and results.

Viv Naicker played an outstanding round of golf last Saturday, shooting level par 70. This resulted in an excellent nett score of 63, seeing him crowned the March Monthly Mug winner.

Damien O’Connell played well too, finishing second with nett 67, which on another day would have been a winning score. Well done gents!
The greens treatment implemented two weeks ago certainly appears to have borne fruit with all medal divisions recording excellent, sub-par nett scores. Well done to the greens team who continue to do a fantastic job in developing and refining our beautiful course.
The B-division was won on a count-out with Mike Flack pipping Bruce Sutcliffe on nett 70. C Division was also subject to a count-out to determine the winner, this time on a three-better-than-par nett 67. John Crawford emerged victorious over Willie Creavey.
The Ladies B Division was won on nett par 73 by Bridget Lee. And Heather Parsonage counted out Evija McKelvey for top honours in the A Division on nett 75.

The Jackpot was shared between Viv Naicker, John Crawford, and Noah Rudwick. And five players, Jordan Bernardis, Bruce Sutcliffe, Damien O’Connell, Wally Kent and Ron Clark, shared the 2-club pool.
The Umkomaas ladies hosted the first SCR league match two Sundays ago, and many compliments were received. Thank you to our wonderful ladies committee who stepped in to ensure everyone enjoyed the hospitality #thefriendliestclub is renown for. Two of the three pairs emerged victorious in their match against last year’s runners-up Southbroom, to get the Umkomaas ladies off to a strong start on the league log.

Congratulations too, to four of our ladies on their selection for the SCR team to compete in the 2023 KZN Inter-Region competition which kicks off the end of the month. Natalie Singer and Sabiha Bacaus will be representing the region for the umpteenth time, but Heather Parsonage and Max van de Heever will debut for the South Coast region, and we wish them all the very best.

Umkomaas is delighted to welcome Caz and the wonderful Coffee Lounge team to our club. Judging by the smiling faces and compliments of members who enjoyed the food on offer this past weekend, it’s the place to be. Members and visitors are welcome to come down and enjoy delicious food, scrumptious coffee, or a drink, on the verandah enjoying the stunning views and hospitality.
