‘Lightning’ strikes twice for top golfers
Next month an Alliance will be played concurrently with the medal.
They say that lightning never strikes twice in the same place. Well I got news for them, as Denis Brown and Wayne Simpson struck again at Scottburgh Golf Club.
They once again struck to win the betterball with 42 points last Wednesday.
Denis’ boet Graham was chasing them with Pete Morris but were three short on 39. The winners will soon be able to open their own bottle store, Mrs Brown’s boys are certainly on a roll at the moment.
Friday’s five pin once again picked up a good field, and this week Steven Abramson collected the R200 winning voucher for his 12 points. Simon Cubitt took second spot with 11 and a R100 voucher. A nice start to the weekend’s jolling.
The Monthly Medal last Saturday was sponsored by Morne van Eck of DisChem/Local Choice Pharmacy. A ‘bit’ windy but nevertheless a good turnout. Pete Gilliver is playing well and he turned in a fantastic 72 to win the best gross in A division. He was followed to the podium by Barry Kisten also playing well with his 69 nett.
In the B division, Wayne Simpson, last Wednesday’s winner had a field day with his 81 gross and John Mills followed him with a 68 nett. Wayne’s Wednesday partner, Denis Brown won the C division with 39 points over Clyde Leisagang’s five back on 34. Two clubs were claimed by Wayne Simpson, Denis Brown, Pete Gilliver and Doc Mahabeer also chipped one in. Wayne claimed March’s medal with a nett 64. Quite a profitable week for the ‘terrible twosome’. Next month an Alliance will be played concurrently with the medal thanks to TK Moodley and his partner for sponsoring.
On Saturday (1st) the Umthunzi Hotel sponsors the Individual Stableford, not to be missed. The Sardine Run tournament is now fully booked. There are two teams on standby, just in case, so if you snoozed you lost out.
Flyer’s footnote: After a round of golf the chatter is all about if’s and putts.
