Wayne hooks biggest bass at Paddock Fishing Compo

What’s the quickest way to end a drought? Organise a fishing compo in Paddock. That’s certainly how it seemed recently when some serious rain threatened to ruin the party. But in the end, 2023 was a great year for the Annual Paddock Fishing Compo.
Although that Friday’s rain seemed to keep some people home, when the sun came up on Saturday with clear blue skies, the crowds flocked to the dams to cast their lines.
This year’s biggest catch went to Wayne Frazer with a bass weighing 3.72kg, caught at Billy Voster’s dam (number 10B).
Dam number 35, belonging to Nick Louw, had the most fish caught at a total mass of 101.190kg. A total of 455.260kg of bass was caught and 187.042kg of tilapia over the weekend. The farmers and families involved in organising the event thanked all those who sponsored prizes and took part in the compo.
