Huddle and Moolman outdo the rest at Scotties
Saturday is the Scottburgh Lions Club sponsored day.
After the very welcome rain last Monday, the course was playing longer than normal and the greens were also very receptive.
No qualms from the members as we teed it up for a revised individual Stableford scaled down from the usual betterball. John Mills posted 39 points for a win with in-form Denis Brown getting second with 35. Denis was however rewarded with the hidden holes, but John countered by finding not one but two 2 clubs to take the pool.
Saturday’s combined Stableford was kindly sponsored by Halfway Toyota. Once again the previous day’s rain made the course that little bit longer.
Les Huddle will be going back to Jo’burg this week but not empty handed. He and Leighn Moolman combined exceptionally well and put up 74 whopping points to easily outdo the rest of us. Brian Richards had to contend with Spoekie for a partner and our astral friend gave Brian second place with 68.
John Mills got in the act again this time with Nivash Mahabeer and their 67 was good enough for third place. Graham Brown and visitor Tony Beech shared the 2 club pool and the hidden holes were ‘drowned’ out. Ian Walker scored 41 individual points but his partner Dave Meredith sort of fell out the bus. So all Ian got apart from a big handicap cut was a R10 fine and his photo taken holding the Stone along with Dave of course.
This Wednesday (24th) is an individual Stableford and Saturday (27th) is the Lions Club of Scottburgh sponsored day played as a 4 ball Alliance. The list is on the board for the Club Championships which will be played over the weekend of June 3 and 4.
Flyer’s footnote: Real golfers don’t cry as they line up their 4th putt.
