Surfers all set for Tweni2s

The competition will be followed by an epic music festival.

Surfers live for the sea and the thrill of that one wave they search a lifetime for – and so it was for a Tweni local Derek Horlock who, during a hot, sleepless summer night thanks to loadshedding, dreamt of a unique competition in which teams would duel against each other in the water to crown a champion.

This plan came together in 2017 with the inaugural Tweni2s Senior Pairs Competition, which was won by Nicholas Njapha and Byron Wigmore, nicknamed the Oreo Brothers.

In the years that followed visiting teams have beaten the locals.
However, this year’s edition (fifth overall) has the potential for a local team to win again, especially after some pretty good results at the recent SA Surfing Champs at St Mike’s.

It will take place at Tweni beach on Saturday, June 24.
The competition will be followed by an epic music festival.

Buy your early-bird ticket to the festival at a cost of R100, which includes the chance of winning a 1-kilowatt trolley invertor with lithium battery, if bought before the competition.

There will also be a free clinic for aspirant surfers the day before (Friday, June 23) at Tweni beach at noon.
It will be hosted by Andrew Lange, Derek Horlock and ex-world-tour surfer Royden Bryson.
Bring your youngsters to The Spot Backpackers to learn some skills.
