Boet is bass champ for fifth year running

A huge thanks to all sponsors who made the prize-giving a great success.

Bass fisherman Boet ‘Kokorotkop’ Stewart was once again crowned champion for the fifth year running, this at the recent South Coast Bass Association annual general meeting, held at chairman Thys Hoffman’s home.

Boet won the heaviest fish and the heaviest bag for the year. He deserves every award he received as he never gives up and always fishes until the last minute.

Other prize winners were Tony Geerdink for second heaviest bass and Bert van Wyk for second heaviest bag.

Most dedicated angler was Joggie Dewinnaar, while the ‘Poephol Prize’ went to Freek Stander – whose story had everyone in fits of laughter.

Overall, it was something of a difficult angling season with 80% of the competitions held in wet, muddy conditions but the members ended the year well, amid much laughter, with a fantastic braai. A huge thanks to all sponsors who made the prize-giving a great success.

New committee for 2023/24 is: Thys Hoffman (chairman), Joggie Dewinnaar (secretary), Freek Stander (weighmaster) and Cheryl Dewinnaar (treasurer).

Chairman Thys Hoffman (right) hands Freek Stander the ‘Poephol Prize’ for his story telling antics.
