Athletes brave wet weather

It was a fantastic marathon overall.

Scottburgh Athletics Club (SAC) braved the cold wet weather and took part in the South Coast Marathon hosted by South Coast Striders on September 24.

It was an early start to the day with the race starting at 06:00 at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Shelly Beach. There was an option of running a full marathon, half marathon and a 10km.

The route was a hilly, yet a beautiful scenic one, taking the 21km runners into Uvongo and running along the coastline before heading back up and up inland to the leisure centre along the banana plantations.
The marshals and the water tables were fantastic and on point.

Well done to South Coast Striders for hosting an amazing event – SAC will definitely be back next year!
