Prize for John Mills in individual Stableford

Halfway Toyota will be sponsoring a combined Stableford this Saturday.

We got back on the course at Scottburgh Golf Club last Saturday, after a week of spring treatment to the greens, for the Umthunzi Hotel and Conference Centre individual Stableford. Thanks to Ryan Ringo for the sponsorship.
From early morning the sou’wester was gearing up to make golf ‘interesting’, it got wilder as the morning grew, but to the hardy golfers they know that with the wind you’re okay and against it you’re not, it’s either a help or hindrance.

That’s the way John Mills treated it as his 33 points were good enough for first place and a two night stay at Umthunzi. Deane Jooste tried hard but came short by one, but will nevertheless have an over-nighter. Alwyn Stander got nearest the pin with the wind behind us on the 5th but facing the onslaught no one got on the 10th green or even close. Russel Freeman hit the wrong green (17th), but rolled in the only 2 club of the day and Herman Grotius paid the piper or in our case Stone last.

After all the hard work, Graham and his team put in for spring treatment someone who can only be described as a ‘missing link’ decided to hack out two 300mm squares in the second and third greens presumably for his garden lawn. Your family will know all about it seeing the bare patches suddenly green. A substantial reward is offered for the successful conviction of this imbecile.

Halfway Toyota will be sponsoring a combined Stableford on Saturday, October 21.
