Striders ready for Comrades Marathon

In total, 23 Striders will be running this year.

The Comrades Marathon is set to take place this Sunday (9th) with an Up Run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.

The South Coast Striders held their pasta party last Saturday, attended by club members and family.

It’s always a lot of fun, with runners giving their predicted times, or Plan A.

Then there’s Plan B, which usually entails a much slower time or the option of ‘just finish’.

Runners shared advice and tips on how best to tackle the Up Run.

The chatter was followed by meals of delicious pasta, pizza and cupcakes made by chairperson Adeline Jacobs.

Unfortunately, Adeline won’t be running.

She qualified but got injured during the New Year, has had to have an operation and is on crutches.

One of those to listen most attentively was running captain Lynn van der Merwe, who is tackling her first Up Run.

Members enjoyed the club run as a final prep; this started and ended at St Mike’s beach carpark.

In total, 23 Striders will be running this year.
