Ricardo Shaw of Margate won his first pro fight in Durban last weekend.
His coach, Roland van Rooyen of Box360 Boxing Academy, said he was so proud of Shaw (22), who stopped his opponent, Siyanda Mnyandu, from Ballito in the second round of their bout in the featherweight division.
Shaw said he was incredibly happy and proud of winning his first pro fight.
“Boxing means the world to me, and Box360 Boxing Academy is like my family. They have transformed my life by giving me hope and the drive to become the next SA champion,” he said.

“My coach, Roland, is like a father to me. He guides me in becoming not just a better fighter but also a better human.”
Shaw’s next fight is scheduled for October, and he is already looking forward to it.
