Wide variety of golf at Sheppie

The competitions have been played using different formats.

Allan Rowley won the Stableford competition at Port Shepstone Country Club last Wednesday on 38 points, three ahead of Eddie Ringo on 35 points and four ahead of Basil King on 34 points.

Friday saw the monthly business day take place, sponsored by Van Zyl, Retief Inc. Winners were Piet Fourie, Deon Meyer, George Nagel and Jaco van der Wal on 92 points.

Runners-up were Christoph Solgevik, Peter Thelberg, Mats Svanberg and Peter Norden on 90 points, counting out Kim Strauss, Cecelia Verster, Jennifer Duncan and Yzelle Greyling. Nearest to the pins were Greg Small (5th), Ed Roux (8th), Cecelia Verster (14th) and Santhos Baskali (17th).

The betterball last Saturday was won by Howard Crouch and Francois du Toit on 41 points, by two from Gerald Koch and Fanie Terblanche on 39 points.

The Wozani Par 3 Challenge last Sunday proved to be a lot of fun, played as a Betterball Scramble. Thanks were extended to the 47 players that took part. Winners were Smittie and Connie Stieger on 38.25 points, followed by Leon le Roux and Rudi Coetzee on 38 points.

In third place were Wayne Beekman and Julian Smith on 36.4 points, with Rudi Steyn and Paul Smulders next on 35.6 points. Doc Calder and André Rabie were fifth on 35.25 points.
