Swallows descend on Southbroom
Many regulars have returned, as well as a few first-timers.
The Swallows have arrived from Europe, and it’s a wonderful time to be playing golf at Southbroom.
Heleen Hissey and Annie Bruwer won the ladies’ betterball at Southbroom Golf Club last Wednesday on 37 points.
In a tie for second on 35 points were Sandy FitzGerald and Pauline Tillcock, with Gwyn Wright and Heather Anderson.
The men’s betterball was won by Jack Moulder and Bob Carmichael on 43 points.
Runners-up were Brian Blackstock and Mark Blackstock on 41 points.
Third spot went to Gary Purtell and Nicky Smith on 40 points, with Geoff Skelton and Bruce Begley in fourth place on 39 points.
The Valentine’s Stableford was won by Christer Solgevik, Peter Thelberg, Peter Norden and Mats Svanberg on 83 points.
In fact, four fourballs had the score of 83 points to the Swedes benefited from the countout.
In second place were locals Anton Kohrmann, James Carlsen, Johan Wentzel and Brian Jolliffe.
Third place went to Roy Boxall, James Boxall, Robbie Boxall and Phil Boxall, with Derrik Matthew, Rob Meydell, Geoff Skelton and Graham Sole unlucky in the countout and having to settle for fourth place.
Mojoz Run last Friday saw Arlene Bailey and Malcolm Greenland score 19 points, with Keith Bailey and James Carlsen returning 18 points.
