Mixed results for junior cricketers at Glenwood festival
The youngsters enjoyed the two-day tournament including a night's stay in the Gibson House hostel at Glenwood High.
There was some exciting and entertaining cricket played recently by some of the top South Coast U13 cricketers.
Two teams from the Robbie Coutts Cricket Academy – RC Challengers and RC Chargers – travelled to Durban to play in the annual Andile Phehlukwayo Glenwood High School U13 Cricket Tournament.
Twenty teams in total took part, with some coming from as far afield as Pretoria.
The RC Challengers, playing in Group A, won two and lost two of their four games.

They beat Clinton Moodley Cricket Academy, lost to Penzance Primary, lost to Westville Senior Primary and beat Mtunzini Primary.
The team was captained by Sphephelo Mlambo, with Khulu Mlondo as his deputy.
The RC Chargers played in Group B and didn’t have things quite their own way, losing on the second last ball to Hillcrest Curro and then in a close game against Manor Gardens Primary.
On the Saturday, they suffered fairly heavy defeats against a Glenwood High Invitation team (comprising Grade 8s) and Richards Bay Primary.
Despite this, they maintained their sense of humour (for the most part) and enjoyed the two days of cricket.
It’s also worth mentioning that while six teams played in Group A, 14 played in Group B, including some that arguably should have played up a group.
Bowling stats are provided in order of wickets taken against runs conceded and not necessarily according to the economy rate; it’s the same for batting – according to runs scored and not necessarily strike rate.
Overs bowled, and balls faced are indicated in the brackets.
