Promotion chance for Southern KZN

The match presents a great opportunity for the local cricketers.

The Southern KZN men’s cricket team take on Pinetown Topham at Port Shepstone Country Club this Sunday.

They will be playing in the final of the Castle Promotion League.

Having been rescheduled from last weekend due to heavy rain in the Durban area, all is at stake here, with promotion to the Castle Premier League up for grabs in this winner-takes-all affair.

The men have already won the Promotion League T20 Cup this season, and winning the double would be a major source of pride for the coast, as well as the region, finally being able to boast a premier league team again.

Over the course of the season, they have been a dominant force in their division, recording nine wins in 10 games.

Ashley Lombard has led the batting with 215 runs at an average of 30. Wily left-arm spinner Abdullah Dhudat is the team’s leading wicket-taker with 15.

It won’t be an easy ride, however, with Pinetown having had a stellar season as well, with eight wins in total and a solid line-up of their own.

The match is a 50 over format and starts at 08:30.
