Medal haul for Thomas and Peter
It was well worth the trip, despite being the only two club members to go through to Richards Bay.
Two swimmers from Blue Ocean Aquatics (BOA) fared well at the recent Level 3 Regional SSA championship in Richards Bay.
Thomas Delport qualified for the finals in all his events and won five gold medals.
These came in the 100m, 200m, 400m freestyle races, and 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke races.
He also won a silver medal in the 50m freestyle. Thomas swam personal best times in all his events.
Peter Koegelenberg swam in eight finals and smashed his personal best times in all his events, having an overall improvement of 100.21 seconds.
He placed first in the 400m and 200m freestyle, winning gold. He won silver medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, respectively, and silver in the 200m individual medley.
Peter further won a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle.
They were the only two swimmers from the club, and so BOA did well to place 17th overall with 168 points out of 31 clubs that took part.
