Stiegers take Par 3 Challenge in style

The warmer weather is sticking around for now.

Smittie and Connie Stieger won the Par 3 Challenge, sponsored by Wozani Berg Gasoline, at Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday afternoon.

The format was a betterball scramble, and scores were close.

The Stiegers had 42 points, marginally better than Leon le Roux and Rudi Coetzee, who had 41.8 points.

In third place were Dick and Natasha Cotterell on 40.12 points, with Vernon Albrecht and Marilize du Plessis next on 39.7 points.

Nicola Vancoillie and Doc Calder were fifth on 38.75 points.

Nearest the pins were Dick Cotterell (2nd), Rudi Coetzee (4th), Mike Vosloo (16th). MakMoer Trophy one 18th went to Rudi Coetzee. Nearest the pin for two on 11th was Smittie Stieger.

Gary Vogt won the Stableford last Wednesday on 39 points.

He counted out Albert dos Santos, with Fanie Terblanche in third place on 36 points.

Saturday saw the next round of the Ten Cup Series take place, which was won by Paul Geoffery on 40 points.

Francois du Toit was second on 39 points, counting out Sashen Govender.

Sanjay Singh was fourth on 38 points, with Sbu Ntozakhe next on 37 points, followed by Gerald Koch on 35 points.

Nearest the pins were Basil King (5th), Sbu Ntozakhe (8th), Loyiso Goqwana (14th) and Gevan Jack (17th).
