Brilliant bowls at anniversary tourney

It is times like this that makes one realise what a privilege it is to be a member of Alexander Memorial Bowling Club.

AMBC’s 90th Hibiscus Retirement Village Anniversary Tournament was held on May 17 and 18, and what a celebration it was indeed.

The weather was perfect for bowling and the 24 teams that had entered showed off their skills.

Everything ran like clockwork and compliments about the sumptuous and tasty meals, the refreshment station, the running of the competition and updating of results, the greens and facilities and the friendliness of the members flowed from all and sundry.

A massive thank you to all the volunteers that helped make this special occasion such a success, as well as the members of the neighbouring clubs for their continued support of the competitions.

AMBC is grateful to Hibiscus Retirement Village for their generous donation towards the day and the Mackay Kemp Trust for the new veranda awning that has made such a difference. Also to C-Thru Glass for ensuring that the awning was completed in time for the tournament.

The Hibiscus mixed trips was played on May 22 and made for another amazing day.

Winners on 4+25 were Helen Turk, Mike Eley and Liesje de Rosner. Runners-up on 4+21 were Trevor Spring, Trevor Coulson and Pam Spring. Second session on 2+12 were Linda Hudson, Russell Moore and Alf Toy.
