Suid-Natal High athletes shine, honour for Tatum

Suid-Natal High has had a superb year in athletics and it continued at the recent South African Christian Schools Sports Association (SACSSA) champs.

Athletes came from all around the country, including some from neighbouring countries, to take part. The event was held in Pietermaritzburg.

Special congratulations were extended to Tatum Kiewiets who placed third overall for the Victrix Ludorum for ages 14-19.

Some impressive points were accumulated by the athletes, with Chloe Barnard obtaining a phenomenal 881 points.

Michaela Steyn scored 832 points, Lize Engelbrecht 829 points and Devan van Heerden 818 points.

This will put them in line for school honours and colours.

Tatum Kiewiets: hammer throw silver, 100m bronze, 200m 6th, shotput 6th.
Janushka Erasmus: discus bronze, hammer throw 4th, shotput 4th.
Dilana van der Merwe: hammer throw 5th, high jump 6th.
Mianke Klooster: 800m 4th, 1500m 6th, 400m 6th.

U15
Lize Engelbrecht: hammer throw gold.
Taylor du Plooy: long jump 5th, 400m 6th.
Devan van Heerden: hammer throw silver, discus 4th,

U17
Kay-Leigh Viljoen: discus gold, shotput silver, hammer throw 4th.
Chloe Barnard: hammer throw gold, discus bronze, shotput 8th.
Michaela Steyn: hammer throw silver.
Franrika van Heerden: hammer throw bronze.
Leyandrie Mfazwe: javelin 6th.
Leon de Kock: discus gold, hammer throw silver, shotput silver.
Morné Moolman: javelin silver, discus silver, hammer throw bronze, high jump 7th.
Eddie Erasmus: 200m 5th.

U19
Zelda Barnard: hammer throw gold, discus gold, javelin silver, shotput bronze.
Veruska Knoesen: shotput gold, hammer throw bronze.
Xavier Fynn: 800m bronze, 1500m bronze.
