Having fun at the Mardi Gras

The main street of Margate is totally shut down for this event.

MARDI Gras is about flea markets, music, street parties and excitement. Started by the Margate Business Association nearly two decades ago, the Mardi Gras street parties in Marine Drive are held every holiday season and one was held on Wednesday last week.

The road is practically shut down from 6pm to 10pm and as usual there were crazy costumes, children everywhere, and both locals and visitors having a great time. Stalls sold a wide variety of crafts, flea market fashions and tasty food. Local restaurants and pubs were packed and many of the shops extended their trading hours to cater for the crowds.
