Diwali show was fantastic

Audiences were entertained by talented local dancers and artists from Durban.

THIS year’s grand Diwali show, presented by the Port Shepstone Hindu Cultural Federation at the Marburg Sports Complex last Saturday was a celebration of colour, with expressive eastern song and dance.

The festivities started off with a vibrant float procession through the streets of the Port Shepstone CBD. This year saw the Mtwalume Brass Band taking part and playing eastern songs.

The float parade, coordinated by Bobby Naidoo, also witnessed several Hindu organisations taking part, and the federation awarded a trophy to the most colourful and vibrant organisation which was won by the Hara Krishna Movement (ISKON).

Soon after the parade to the Port Shepstone Civic Centre, meals were provided to residents at Mkholombe and Bhobhoyi.

This was followed by a grand Diwali extravaganza at the Marburg Sports Complex.

Audiences were entertained by talented dancers from local temple organisations and Tansen Nepaul showband from Durban. The highlight of the evening was the firework display which was enjoyed by all.

Diwali is one of the most festive and beautiful times of the year. It is a time filled with light and love, when Hindus all over the world rejoice. The Port Shepstone Hindu Cultural Federation would like to thank everyone for making the event a huge success. CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS
