Award-winning singer visits South Coast

A fund-raising concert took place at the church.

AWARD-winning South Coast singer and songwriter David Easthouse performed at a fund-raising concert at the Shelly Beach Full Gospel Church in Burns Road, Shelly Beach last Friday.

Although David has been based on the South Coast for many years he and his wife and family have travelled extensively, working abroad as English foreign language teachers.

Many regard David as the premier songwriter of the 21st century and his songs speak for themselves.

With over 750 songs registered, covering a wide range of themes, his songwriting style combines the best of the songwriting giants of the 20th century with questioning and cutting lyrics of the likes of Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell and distinctive and ear- catching melodies as of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

He has won awards with Mike Pinder in The Moody Blues ‘Songwars’ songwriting competition and world – renowned ‘Radian Records’ of New York. Many of David’s songs are underpinned by his Christian upbringing.

This, his first concert, was such a success that he will now perform at other concerts to share more songs from the many albums he has written.

He is also thinking of combining these with open mic evenings to encourage and develop local talent. Proceeds from this concert will go to Missions Support on the South Coast.
