‘Michael Naicker’ brought the house down

His skits, songs and jokes had everyone in hysterics.

THE loud laughter that emanated from the Tropical Nites Theatre at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort last Friday showed that Michael Naicker (aka Kevin Perkins) is still one of South Africa’s top-selling stand-up comedians.

His one-night-only performance there was part of his much anticipated ‘Mind the Gap-The Underground Tour’.

Michael Naicker is a fictional Durban character. He loves fast cars, alcohol and women. His character has developed into a unique personality over the years and this is what has made him so popular.

Kevin explained that he does basic social commentary and elaborates on the frailties of life that most of us experience.

“I try to stay away from politics because I just find it depressing. I like to talk nonsense and lift people up for the time that I’m privileged to be standing in front of them,” he said.

With his very special brand of stand-up comedy, there is no doubt that Kevin/Michael has a massive following in South Africa.
