What a swell party it was

Tuesday Rostrum ended the year with a fabulously festive Christmas brunch.

ONCE again it was bouquets all round for the Tuesday Rostrum committee members who topped an excellent year of first-class speakers with an absolutely fab Christmas celebration.

In fact, this year’s Christmas brunch, at San Lameer, will certainly go down in the Tuesday Rostrum annals as one of the very best ever. For a start, the entertainment was nothing short of scintillating.

Cat Simoni, a gifted singer and musician who once wowed audiences in the best London venues, had proved such a hit last year that the committee had invited her back to enchant brunch guests again this year.

She shared the stage with charming Paul Spence who joined her to sing a wide and lovely selection of duets, ranging from the songs made famous by the Carpenters, Cliff Richard and the Beatles to Cole Porter and Rodgers and Hammerstein classics.

Even a Herman’s Hermits song or two popped up in a repertoire that showcased Cat’s rich, beautiful voice and her amazing versatility.

While the singing and music were absolutely divine it was the stage presence of these two thoroughly professional entertainers, not to mention their witty banter, the connection they shared and their ability to engage with their audience, that made their show as unforgettable as one of their duets by that name.

Even before the singers sang the first note, the atmosphere was festive, thanks to the beautifully decorated tables, courtesy of the talented committee members. Added to this was the delicious San Lameer brunch, complemented by not a few bottles of bubbly.

In short, as Paul and Cat put it, what a swell party – what a swellegant, elegant party – it was.
