Margate Retirement Village’s Azalea Hall hosts cabaret show

Tonya Koenderman's latest offering has earned her sustained applause at venues throughout South Africa.

IF you love cabaret, hurry and book for the next Azalea Hall offering, a sparkling cabaret show, ‘Born to Diva’, featuring talented and gorgeous diva Tonya Koenderman.

This glitz and glamour show will be served up as another of the Azalea Hall’s popular supper theatre evenings this Saturday, April 29. Guests will be seated at tables and will be invited to bring their own picnics and refreshments. The doors open at 6pm, giving guests plenty of time for a leisurely supper before the show, at 7pm.

After 25 years in the entertainment industry, Tonya, an internationally acclaimed singer and cabaret artiste, has built up an impressive CV. Apart from dazzling Saudi Arabian ‘royalty’, she has performed in countries such as Australia, Italy, Mauritius, Seychelles and Morocco, to name but a few. Critics have hailed her as “a pint-sized dynamo”, and describe her voice as “spellbinding”.

She is also a great hit on the cruise ship circuit. Her new show has earned standing ovations and rave reviews in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and East London. Gorgeous costumes augment Tonya’s rendition of songs made famous by legendary stars like Tina Turner, Shirley MacLaine and Liza Minnelli.

Azalea Hall is Margate Retirement Village’s attractive and well-appointed mini theatre and it benefits the whole South Coast. The village’s Residents’ Activities Committee (RAC) lines up an amazing array of classy Azalea shows, open to the general public as well as village residents and it manages to keep the prices very affordable.

Tickets are R65 per person and are available from the village’s RAC and admin offices.
