Five new board members for South Rand Hospital

FIVE experienced professionals with expertise in legal matters, finance, human resources governance and medical background have joined the South Rand Hospital as part of its new members of the board.
The five professionals have worked in community organisations and now formed part of the board in an effort to strengthen the hospital’s management team.
South Rand Hospital spokesperson Phafudi Molapo said the Gauteng Department of Health had appointed the five members to serve the hospital.
Hospital board members are appointed to look at the management of all public hospitals.
“The members were elected in an effort to strengthen our management.”
Molapo said the names of the hospital board members were Nalini Maharaj who was appointed as the chairperson, Adv Felix Malunga as the deputy chairperson, Regina Letsie, Shabeira Allie and B. Furstenburg.
He said the hospital board members would serve the hospital for a three-year term.
“They are experienced professionals with legal, finance, strategic management, information management, human resources and governance with most extensive medical backgrounds.
“The role of the hospital boards are to serve as a resource to the management of the hospital on a range of organisational matters including but not limited to the professional expertise listed above.”
Molapo said South Rand’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nobantu Maleka had introduced the members to the hospital last week and said they (hospital) were looking forward to working with the board to take the hospital to the next level.
