Jennabelle’s Market Day brings community spirit to Rietvlei Zoo Farm

For those who missed the recent market, Jennabelle’s has more in store, including the upcoming Jennabelle’s Night Market and Family Movie Night.

Rietvlei Zoo Farm was abuzz with activity on March 1 as Jennabelle’s Market Day took place at Jennabelle’s Coffee Shop, attracting locals for a day of shopping, entertainment, and family fun.

According to Yolanda Brook, organiser of Jennabelle’s Market Day, the initiative began in November 2023 after recognising a need for a family-oriented market in Alberton and Johannesburg South.

The market provides a platform for local vendors to showcase their products while giving residents a safe and enjoyable outing.

“We started with just a handful of vendors in 2023, and we’ve now grown to over 50 unique and individual stalls. Our vendors are mostly locals selling delicious food, homemade arts and crafts, sauces and preserves, kids’ crafts, and more,” said Yolanda.

She added that local musicians and performers keep visitors entertained while they explore the market.

The market has also become a valuable source of income for many, especially pensioners who rely on these events to sell their goods.

With new vendors joining every month, visitors can always look forward to something fresh and exciting.

The latest market day embraced a St. Patrick’s Day theme, with vendors decorating their stalls and adding a festive touch to their displays.

Attendees enjoyed a variety of offerings from food to clothing, while soaking up the lively atmosphere. Locals are encouraged to follow Jennabelle’s on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated on future events.
