Expect more rain for Johannesburg

Johannesburg moved from a heat wave, now rain is set to be around as from Saturday evening.

JOHANNESBURG – According to Times LIVE, “Forecaster Vanetia Phakula said that there was a 30 percent chance of rain in Gauteng in the early evening.”

The news website reported that Joburg emergency services spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said, “Personnel would remain on high alert in the city, especially in critically affected areas such as Alexandra Ivory Park, Diepsloot, and some parts of Soweto.”

After floods in certain parts of the city on Friday January 31, the City of Johannesburg is not taking the rain warning lightly.

“We have automated rainfall systems in place in those areas which assist us to disseminate information to affected communities,” he said.

Motorists are urged to be vigilant as they drive; if the roads are flooded they must use alternate routes.

Times LIVE warned, “Pedestrians should also avoid crossing flooded bridges and young children were urged to stay away from drainage systems to avoid drowning.”
