
BOOYSENS – The management of Booysens SAPS would like to thank the following members for the hard work and dedication in obtaining the following conviction on several cases they were investigating.
Detective Warrant Officer Botha investigated a case of robbery with aggravating circumstances – for count one, sentenced to 15 years, and count two, sentenced to 15 imprisonments which will run concurrently which means that the suspect will be in jail for 20 years. The suspect also remains unfit to possess a firearm. This crime took place in 2012.
Detective Sergeant Chabalala investigated a murder that happened in 2008. The suspect in this case was charged on three counts. The first count was for murder and he received 15 years, the second count was for malicious damage to property, for which he received two years, and count three for assault for which he received 60 days. In order for the count one and two to run concurrently with the murder charge, the suspect will spend 15 years in jail.
Detective Sergeant Sono investigated a case of armed robbery, murder and possession of a licenced firearm that took place in 2010. The suspect was found guilty on all the crimes in question plus an extra charge added by the magistrate. The sentences were six years for armed robbery, 12 years for murder and one year for possession of an unlicensed firearm. In total the suspect will be in jail for 18 years. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Detective Warrant Officer Botha investigated a case of business robbery where five suspects were arrested. One suspect has passed away, but the other four suspects were sentenced as follows: suspect one – 13 years imprisonment, suspect two – 18 years imprisonment, suspect three – 15 years imprisonment and suspect four – 20 years imprisonment. All four suspects were declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Detective Sergeant Chabalala investigated a case of murder that took place in 2012. The suspect was found guilty for murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances. The sentence passed was 20 years imprisonment for murder and 15 years imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances; these will run concurrently, which means the suspect will spend 25 years in jail.
