Domestic Watch encourages awareness
The Glenvista Domestic Watch meeting was held on Tuesday March 18 at New South Veterinary Clinic, Glenvista.
GLENVISTA – About 40 domestics and gardeners attended the meeting with Martin Barber from SOS Security Services addressing the domestics on what to do in emergency situations as well as other crime related issues.
Sarah Wissler, coordinator, advised the domestics about having ICE (In Case of Emergency) numbers on their cellphones.
“Always make sure you have air-time on your cellphones,” said Barber. He told of an incident where a domestic was looking after her employee’s child. “The child was attacked by the family dog and needed emergency treatment. The domestic had no air-time and there was no landline at the home. Thankfully we had a security car in the area and rushed the child to the hospital,” he said.
Home owners are advised to make sure their domestics and gardeners have air-time at all times.
