Domestic workers arrested for robbery and false information

Two domestic workers were arrested after commiting the robbery themselves.

MONDEOR – After a domestic worker in Mondeor alleged she had been held up in a house robbery (Comaro CHRONICLE May 28, page 6, Suspects posing as meter readers rob Mondeor home), Mondeor detectives carried out a thorough investigation and it was discovered the domestic worker had lied about the house robbery.

The domestic worker alleged she was robbed by two suspects and also alleged the other domestic worker who works at the same home, had gone to home affairs to sort out his papers at the time of the robbery.

After the investigation it was discovered the domestic workers had in fact stolen the goods from the house themselves. They were both arrested on Friday May 30. Mondeor detectives and members from the Flying Squad visited their addresses and other addresses whereby all the stolen goods were recovered.

Another two suspects have been arrested for receiving the stolen goods from the two domestic workers.

Mondeor SAPS warns the public that if they report false cases or receive stolen goods, they will be arrested.
