Councillor sends condolences to the family of hijacking victim

Botched hijacking suspect is still at large as police continue to investigate the case.

SOUTH HILLS – Ward 57 DA Cllr Faeeza Chame sends her condolences to the family of the 41-year-old man who was shot in a botched hijacking on Monday September 16 in South Hills.

She said her heart is with the family however the police need to up their game. “The suspect is believed to be from South Hills and I say drugs are behind this incident. Drugs in our community are rife.

“Police need to go into South Hills flats and search especially if they have leads. There are police who are in cohorts with the drug dealers, taking bribes, which must stop. We know there’s high number of unemployment and drugs in the area, these factors might be the cause of these incidents.

Moffatview’s Constable Bila said the police are still investigating; the suspect is still at large.
