Dalmondeor P.S joins Pink Trees for cancer

Pretty in pink were learners and teachers at Dalmondeor Primary School during cancer awareness month.

DALMONDEOR Primary School joined the Pink Trees for Pauline initiative by Adri van Nieuwenhuizen, in which every year in October pink material is wrapped around trees in support of cancer awareness.

The pink material is specially ordered from Pink Trees for Pauline non-profit organisation.

Mrs Potgieter of Dalmondeor found out about Pink Trees for Pauline when she was visiting Cape Town. She was so impressed with the aim of the initiative that she thought it would be great to rope in her school.

The countdown to pink trees for Pauline’s national celebrations ended on October 17, where more than 50km of the signature pink material was wrapped around thousands of trees, pillars, buildings.

Of all funds raised, 80 per cent will be used in aid of improving the quality of life of those living with cancer within the participating towns. To this end, the funds will be used in the following way: Accommodation during cancer treatment, home nursing, feeding schemes for cancer-affected patients, training cancer-buddies, social worker training, supplying of wigs or prosthesis or wheelchairs, playpens or toys for children in hospitals and transport needs.

If you would like to arrange a Pink Trees for Pauline event in your town, contact Adri van Nieuwenhuizen (Managing Director) on 082 4606 386/adri@pinktrees.co.za or visit our contact page. Alternatively, visit our Facebook page to find out more.
