ORMONDE –  The police car was following a silver BMW X3 along Shakespeare Avenue in Ormonde, believing the vehicle to be suspicious.

The suspects stopped the BMW and began firing at the police vehicle, shooting one of the SAPS members in the hand.

According to constable E Mnguni, communications officer from Mondeor, the two suspects, African males believed to be in their 20’s, fled the scene in the BMW. No registration number is available.

The policeman from Mondeor Police Station was taken to hospital for medical treatment and is in a stable condition.
