Seniors remembered at Reuven

The classic curry mince luncheon was well received by all in attendance.

SENIORS at the Reuven Complex Old Age Home were treated to a Sunday lunch with the support of Christen Crossley from Meals on Wheels and DA ward 124 PR councillor, Tyrell Meyers.

“The lunch was a just a reminder to the seniors, who have played a role in building this country, that they are not forgotten and that we value their contributions to South Africa and Johannesburg. This old age home remains neglected because it does not have its own allocated budget to ensure repairs are carried out according to their needs. It is only fitting we help host this wonderful lunch to remind the seniors that we do care for them,” said Clr Meyers.

“We would like to thank the ladies of Reuven who came out to assist with the cooking, Aunty Merriam, Alexis, Betty, Joyce, Belinda, Pauline, Tina, Aunty Caroline and Leila from Helping Hands.

“We would like to thank the sponsors who donated food and drinks for this function, Zahia Ferreira for providing the vegetables, Sarah Wissler who helped arrange cold-drinks with Joe from Bootleggers and a big thank you to Zaid Tiry of Gillview Halaal butchery for supplying the mince for the curry,” said Clr Meyers.
