UPDATE: Driver loses control of vehicle

The learners were rushed to the South Rand Hospital and the Baragwanath hospital.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – A group of learners were taken to hospital after a taxi, that was transporting them home, lost control on the corner of Rifle Range Road and Swartgoud Street in Ridgway, on Tuesday, November 3, around 15:30.

According JMPD Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, at least 10 medical emergency vehicles were at the scene to help the injured learners.

“Fortunately it does not look like any of the learners suffered severe injuries,” said a resident who was watching paramedics assist a young girl.

The learners were split into two groups and rushed to the South Rand Hospital and the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.

Meanwhile, CPF members who were helping to control the traffic said the driver’s license had expired a while ago.

Minnaar informed the COURIER that the cause of the accident is being investigated.
