Residents learn about health awareness

Residents informed about services which they did not know were available at the clinic.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH  – Residents of the South Hills enjoyed an informative day at the South Hills Clinic during a health awareness event, hosted by the Region F Health Department and various stakeholders, on Friday, October 30.

The event introduced the community to the various health services the clinic has to offer. These services include checking blood pressure and cholesterol.

Representatives from SAPS, JMPD, Region F Health Department, Queens Haven, Look Forward Creative Centre and SANCA were present and played a vital role in educating the community about leading a healthy lifestyle. A mobile circumcision bus and doctor were on site to assist with the latest stitch-free circumcision method and also educated residents about its health benefits.

“We are very happy about this event for residents of the South; the elderly, youth and the children. Residents will receive emergency starter packs which will be very helpful in cases of emergency,” said a proud Clr Faeeza Chame.

Ward 57 health committee chairperson, Peter Bocks, added: “We are all very proud to be here because without knowledge we would all not be able to excel.”

The event gave the elderly residents an opportunity to learn more about leading a healthy lifestyle and made it possible for them to socialise with other people and to give the younger generation advice about life.
