Begaars can be choosers

Unhappy road user from Alberton writes:

Why do people give beggars standing on the street corners and at traffic lights anything?

I will rather give that money to a chosen charity or one of my employees.

On Tuesday, November 3, I watched how a beggar, standing on the island on the corner of the R59 and South Rand Road, in South Hills, was given a sandwich.

But I was shocked when I saw that he threw it down the storm water drain with total disgust, flicking something back at the car – all in front of the giver.

In my opinion these beggars want cash, even when they tell you the same story over and over.

I think the problem started when we started giving and now they are ungrateful.
