Pujya Swamiji's efforts to establish a centre for Yoga, Satsanga and the dissemination of moral, spiritual and cultural values
AS the year draws to a close, the Ashrama reached another turning point in the annals of their Ashrama, viz of the MAHA SAMADHI of the Founder and First President, H.H. Param Pujya Sri Swami Shankaranandaji Maharaj.
Pujya Swamiji’s efforts to establish a centre for Yoga, Satsanga and the dissemination of moral, spiritual and cultural values amongst interested members of the community is known in the community.
“Having spent almost 17 years on the “AUM” Farm, Golden Highway from 1983 to 2000, he developed a beautiful centre for fellow seekers of the Divine, which he named as: Sri Adi Shankara Ashrama. Unfortunately, due to the severe incidences of violent crime experienced on the 30 acre Farm Holding in recent years, the Ashrama has now re-located to Winchester Hills, South of Johannesburg, where the 15th Maha Samadhi of most Revered Swamiji Maharaj will take place,” said, a statement of the Ashrama.
To commemorate the event, the Ashrama will be hosting a 12 hour BHAJAN MELA from 06:00 to 18:00 on Sunday November 29. Many groups in the community have been invited to sing bhajans and kirtans in all languages.
The Ashrama is also honoured to have as their special guests all the Swamis from the Sivananda Fellowship of South Africa from all four provinces of our country.
