Taxi association revamps retirement home
Broken windows replaced, chairs and tables installed, and walls repainted.
THE South African National Taxi Council has left the elderly residents of Pioneer Old Age Home speechless after revamping their home at the corner of La Rochelle and Glenroy roads in October.
The seniors said the association repainted their interior and exterior walls, replaced broken windows, installed chairs and tables made from used tyres and wood, cleaned the yard and then hosted the braai for the residents to enjoy and feel loved and cared for.
Resident Gladys Carlson told the COURIER: “On behalf of the elderly residents here at Pioneer, we are happy and impressed. We feel loved and cared for, and we wish the taxi association well during the festive season. What they did for us is truly helpful.”
The elderly residents living in old age homes in the South of Johannesburg are always grateful to receive support from other residents or companies and charity organisations.
Ward 124 Clr Sydney Radebe said: “I thank the taxi association for what they did for the elderly. But I also want to say thank you to all the companies, individuals, stakeholders and non-profit organisations who always go an extra mile to help our elderly in the South, year in year out.”
