Change for SOJO

“Throughout 2015 we held a couple of successful fund-raisers, said goodbye to old staff members and welcomed new staff, Jeannine Du Toit and Tumelo Mothibi.

A MOVE to Aspen Hills for SOJO Business and Tourism is a huge milestone and, on Friday evening, November 27, they shared the exciting news at their new-office-warming-year-end cocktail party.

CEO of SOJO, Nicky Vakaloudis, welcomed the board members from SOJO as well as a few other invited guests. “There were highs and lows during 2015 and a definite high has been our move to this new office after being in the same premises in Booysesn since the forum began 17 years ago. With the new move, we obtained a fresh new-look logo, kindly sponsored by Reuben Louw and Thaba’s marketing team.

“Throughout 2015 we held a couple of successful fund-raisers, said goodbye to old staff members and welcomed new staff, Jeannine Du Toit and Tumelo Mothibi.

“On June 2 we had our first office break-in, the first in 17 years, at our Booysens office, but in the middle of July we had another break-in and yet another in August and realised it was probably time for change. We took up Aspen Hills’ offer for a new office in a more upmarket area and thank them for subsidising our rental. Hence the move to here.

“On May 29 we held our annual golf day, sponsored by Gold Reef City, and made R9 000 and in June we were involved in the establishment of a new garden for Annie Burger Retirement Village for our 67 minutes for Mandela Day. On July 31 we held our annual Christmas in July fund-raiser at Thaba Eco Hotel. All the educational toys donated were handed over to Lerato Educational Centre in Eikenhof.

“Huge thanks to all our members and especially our board members for what you do, Reuben Louw, Richard Bennet, Peter Soester, Andrew Barker, Etienne Cloete, Sandra Andrew and Hannes Venter. You are the fuel that keeps SOJO engine running and SOJO wouldn’t be what it is without you,” Nicky said.

“Also special thanks to Reuben for providing the delicious canapés and drinks for this evening,” she added.

Richard thanked Nicky for the stalwart job she does. “You never complain about anything. Thank you for all you do for the South of Joburg.”

Nicky said SOJO is looking forward to a prosperous 2016 and hope they’ll be signing up some new members.
