CRESTVIEW Primary School’s Operation Hydrate went well on Wednesday, February 3, when the learners collected over 1 200 litres of clean water for drought-stricken areas.
The learners, parents, teachers and business people helped to collect and transport the water.
Bernice Jackson, one of the parents, said they are helping others because water is a basic need for people. Riaan Venter from Oasis Alberton also donated five litres of water to the school while Johan Nel from Express Ducts and Pierre Potgieter and Isaac Mahlobogane from Rand Stadium Toyota provided the transport. “Our first stop will be Qwa-Qwa and then we will take water to other areas,” said Pierre.
The school’s principal, Belinda Coutts, said: “The learners heeded the call to bring water to the school and they brought water. We collected 549 two-litre bottles and 27 five-litre bottles of water.”
