DA marches for jobs and better opportunities for all
DA Mayoral Candidate for Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, lead the march for jobs to to Executive Mayor Park Tau’s office.
HUNDREDS of DA supporters marched from Pieter Roos Park to the City of Johannesburg Municipality offices in Braamfontein, where executive members hold office, singing and chanting for the current mayor’s fall as they see him as unfit to hold office.
DA mayoral candidate for the Johannesburg Municipality, Herman Mashaba, led the march for jobs to Executive Mayor Park Tau’s office on Wednesday, June 8.
Mashaba was accompanied by DA national spokesperson Refiloe Nt’sekhe, DA Gauteng provincial leader John Moodey, DA Johannesburg regional chairperson, Khume Ramulifho, and DA caucus leader in the Johannesburg City Council, Vasco Da Gama.
According to the DA, currently, 869 000 Johannesburg residents are jobless, 66 000 of whom joined the ranks of the unemployed in the first quarter of 2016. The DA stands with the 869 000 unemployed residents of this city and said the march highlights Mayor Tau’s failure to create jobs and deliver on his promises.
Mashaba accused the ANC of failing to deliver in the municipalities where it governs and compared the success of the DA in Cape Town to Johannesburg under the ANC. He said the ANC under Mayor Tau failed benefited only a connected few and also failed to create real opportunities for the youth, disabled and the poor.
