Drugs centre needs a facelift

This facelift of the premises will serve the community with pride and excellence

THE premises in West Turffontein where the NGO Alcohol and Drug Concerns (ADC) is currently operating desperately need some maintenance of the building.

Maintenance will include the repair of the roof, the palisades which need painting and are corroding, tiling, painting interior and exterior walls, flooring, plumbing and so on.

Clint Victor, consultant and capacity builder for ADC, said the disease of drug addiction is spreading at an alarming rate. “Those of us who are not on the ground cannot fathom the intensity of this family-breaking, society-crippling and individual-destroying sickness. Substance abuse is an evil.

“We at Alcohol and Drug Concerns are passionate about educating our youth about the dangers of substance use and ultimately abuse. Our aim is to get to the youth before the substance does. Our ethos is prevention and we strive to instil in the minds of the community members that they are worth so much and their potential will locked away forever within the cloud of substance addiction,” said Victor.

Due to the premises not being in a very appealing condition, the labour will cost around R12 000 and the material around R13 000. This facelift of the premises will serve the community with pride and excellence, and ADC members humbly appeal to those who are concerned with the devastating drug addiction and the demoralising effect it has on individuals, families and society to support and partnership with this initiative.

Any donation whether cash or kind will be highly appreciated. You can either contribute toward the labour or material cost. Kindly contact their office for a list of materials needed.
